Alongside portrait commissions, Julia Eichbauer's artistic practice explores the human figure through figurative sculpture. Working from observation and imagination, she is interested in the physical presence of the body, gesture, expression and the relationship between form and character. 

 

Sometimes her curiosity pushes her beyond the human figure and she finds herself looking in the eye of a minotaur or exploring the skull of a horse.
