A PORTRAIT IS MORE THAN A PHOTO. A hand-modelled portrait sculpture transforms the likeness of a person into a physical, lasting work of art. It can mark an important occasion, honour someone special or become an entirely personal way of preserving their presence. Each portrait is individually modelled by hand, with attention to likeness, expression and the qualities that make a person recognisable.
THE ARTIST AND HER CRAFT
Julia Eichbauer is an Austrian figurative sculptor specializing in archival portraiture. Operating from her studio in Vienna, her practice is anchored in the rigors of classical European realism and the preservation of human heritage. Her practice combines traditional sculptural processes with a contemporary approach to the representation of the human form.
